Frequently asked questions

1How do I save a link?
Open the share sheet in Threads, Instagram, X, YouTube, Safari or any other app and choose SaveTag. You can also just copy a link: the next time you open SaveTag it offers to save whatever is on your clipboard, so a good link never gets buried in a chat thread again.
2How does the automatic tagging work?
SaveTag reads the title and description of a link on your device and files it under a topic using Apple's NaturalLanguage framework together with a rule-based classifier. There is no cloud service and no generative AI involved, and nothing is uploaded to be tagged. Every tag can be corrected by hand, and Pro adds custom tags of your own.
3What makes the search smart?
Search looks at titles, descriptions, tags and the address, then ranks results by how close they are in meaning rather than by exact spelling, so a related word still surfaces the save you had in mind. All of it runs on your device.
4What is Rediscover?
Rediscover is a short daily review of the saves you have not opened yet. It brings back a handful at a time, so the things you saved to read later do not quietly turn into an archive you never revisit.
5What is free, and what does Pro add?
The free version has every feature and keeps your latest 5 saves. Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited saves, custom tags, and Markdown export and backup, and it is included in Family Sharing. SaveTag has no subscription of any kind.
6I bought Pro, but a new device shows it locked.
Open Settings in SaveTag and tap Restore purchase while signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with. SaveTag has no account of its own — Apple keeps the record of the purchase, and restoring is free and unlimited.
7Where are my saves stored?
Links, titles, notes, tags, topics and settings stay in SaveTag's on-device storage. There is no account, no cloud sync and no server of ours that could hold them. When you save a link, SaveTag requests that page on your device, directly from the site you saved, to read its title and preview details.
8How do I export my library or move it to another device?
Pro exports the whole library as a Markdown file through the iOS share sheet, which doubles as a backup you can keep or carry to another device. The file is created on your device and goes only where you send it.
9What do the widget and the Siri shortcuts do?
The Home Screen widget shows what you saved most recently and what is waiting in Rediscover. The Siri shortcuts let you save the link on your clipboard or open Rediscover hands-free, without hunting through menus.
