Privacy Policy
dB Halo is designed to analyze sound locally and collect as little data as possible. This policy explains exactly what is processed, what may be stored on your device, and when information leaves the app only because you direct it.
No account, advertising, analytics, or tracking
dB Halo does not require an account and contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, or third-party SDKs. Lumi Studio does not operate a cloud service for dB Halo, does not build a user profile, does not sell personal information, and cannot view your on-device measurements or recordings.
Live Meter, Spectrum, and Dose audio
When you use Meter, Spectrum, RTA, Spectrogram, or Noise Dose, microphone samples are processed in memory on the device to calculate levels, frequency information, and exposure estimates. That raw audio is not saved and is not sent to Lumi Studio.
Sleep events and explicit AAC recordings
Sleep mode stores only recognized event categories, event times, and dB values; it does not retain raw sleep audio. An audio file is stored only when you deliberately start an AAC recording. That recording remains local until you delete or export it.
Photos and videos you choose
dB Halo uses Apple's PhotosPicker, so it receives only the photos or videos you explicitly select rather than unrestricted access to your library. Selected items are processed locally for supported overlays or exports and are not uploaded by Lumi Studio.
HealthKit is write-only
If you grant Health permission and choose to export exposure, dB Halo writes environmental audio exposure samples to HealthKit. The app does not read Health data. You can manage permission and written records in the Health app and iOS Settings.
Local history, calibration, and trial state
Saved measurements, event summaries, calibration profiles, preferences, and the local free-use trial ledger are stored in the app's local container. Explicit AAC recordings are also local. They are used only to provide the features you request.
Apple platform services
Apple processes Lifetime Pro purchases and restorations through StoreKit; Lumi Studio does not receive your payment-card details. WatchConnectivity exchanges the data needed for dB Halo features with your paired Apple Watch. Widgets and App Intents use the app's shared local container. These system services do not create a Lumi Studio cloud account.
Files and sharing you direct
CSV, PDF, AAC, photo, and video outputs are created only when you request them. The system Files or share interface lets you choose the destination or recipient. dB Halo does not automatically upload those files; after you choose a destination, its provider or recipient controls that copy.
Support email exception
If you email support, your email address, message, and attachments are transmitted through the email providers involved and are received by Lumi Studio solely to answer, secure, and document the request. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or legal obligations, then deleted or archived under those obligations. Do not send sensitive audio, media, or health information unless it is necessary.
Retention and deletion
Delete saved measurements and explicit recordings with the relevant controls in dB Halo. Removing the app deletes the remaining app-container data, subject to normal device backups managed by you and Apple. Delete exported files from the destination you chose, manage Health records in the Health app, and remove the Watch app to clear its local companion data. You may ask support to delete support correspondence unless retention is legally required.
Children, safety, and legal limits
dB Halo is not designed to collect personal information from children. Because there is no account, a child or family member using the app remains under the device owner's permission and sharing choices. Readings are informational and are not medical advice, a hearing diagnosis, a certified sound-level measurement, or a substitute for occupational-health and safety rules, trained professionals, or required calibrated instruments.
Policy dates and changes
This policy is effective and was last updated on August 29, 2026. If dB Halo's data practices change, this page will be updated before the revised practice applies where notice is required.
