What dB Halo does

Simple at first glance, detailed when you need it

Meter and Halo

Read the current, minimum, average, maximum, and peak levels with a clear Halo, weighting choices, LAeq, and plain-language context.

Spectrum, RTA, and spectrogram

Inspect frequency energy through synchronized FFT, octave-band RTA, and spectrogram views without breaking the active analysis session.

Noise dose

Follow estimated exposure, remaining time, and NIOSH or OSHA guidance. The result is informational, not a workplace compliance decision.

Sleep sound events

Log recognized event categories, their times, and sound levels on the device. Sleep mode does not save raw audio.

History and exports

Keep local history and calibration profiles, then create user-requested CSV, PDF, AAC, photo, or video outputs when a supported workflow calls for them.

Watch, widgets, and shortcuts

Use the dedicated Apple Watch experience, glanceable widgets, and App Intents while the paired devices share only the local data needed for each action.

01

Quick start

  1. Open Meter and allow microphone access when iOS asks.
  2. Place the device where it will not be covered or rubbing against clothing, then tap Start.
  3. Use the Halo and current dB value for a quick reading; open Spectrum or Dose when you need more detail.
  4. Tap Stop before leaving the workflow, then save the result to History if you want to keep it.

02

Permissions stay under your control

  • Microphone access is required for sound measurement and analysis. Raw Meter, Spectrum, and Dose audio is processed in memory and not saved.
  • Photos and videos are accessed only after you choose specific items through the system Photos picker; dB Halo processes those selected items locally.
  • Health access is optional. With permission, dB Halo writes environmental audio exposure samples and does not read Health data.

03

Lifetime Pro and Restore

Lifetime Pro is a single non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. The App Store shows the localized price before you confirm. To restore an earlier purchase, open dB Halo → Settings → Lifetime Pro → Restore Purchases and use the same Apple Account that bought it.

04

Troubleshooting

  • No reading: confirm microphone permission in iOS Settings, disconnect an unintended audio route, and make sure another app is not occupying the microphone.
  • Unexpected values: remove any case or obstruction near the microphone, avoid handling noise, select the intended input, and review your calibration profile.
  • Watch or widget looks old: keep the iPhone and Watch paired and nearby, open dB Halo on the iPhone once, then allow the system a moment to refresh.
  • Purchase not restored: verify that the device is online, use the original Apple Account, and run Restore Purchases again from Lifetime Pro.

Important measurement note

An informed estimate, not a certified instrument

Phone and watch microphones vary by model, placement, case, environment, and calibration. dB Halo is useful for awareness and personal records, but it is not a certified sound-level meter and does not replace medical advice, hearing assessment, occupational hygiene monitoring, or a legally required workplace instrument.
